Our client, a Singapore-based venture capital firm, is seeking a dynamic and versatile Chief of Staff to support their CEO. Leveraging their extensive network and investment expertise in North Asia, North America, and Singapore, the firm is dedicated to investing in and scaling innovative technology companies. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to all facets of venture capital operations and work directly with the leaders of high-growth startups.

Role Overview:

The Chief of Staff will act as a strategic partner to the CEO, providing crucial support across a wide range of responsibilities. This role requires a proactive generalist with a strong finance or accounting background and a passion for engaging with early-stage startup founders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic & Operational Support:

    • Assist the CEO in managing strategic initiatives, investor relations, and day-to-day operations.

    • Monitor information flow, acting as a gatekeeper to prioritize CEO focus and maximize results.

    • Facilitate operational processes related to reporting, tax, audit, fund administration, and compliance.

    • Ensure seamless execution of financing, settlement, and investment onboarding.

  • Portfolio Company Engagement:

    • Engage with senior leadership (Founders and CFOs) of portfolio companies to gather and analyze financial information (e.g., annual audited statements, cap tables, financial projections).

    • Balance the needs of portfolio companies with the firm's reporting requirements.

  • Financial Analysis & Reporting:

    • Prepare fair valuation templates in accordance with financial reporting and statutory audit standards.

    • Review and analyze financial data to inform investment decisions.

  • Compliance & HR:

    • Provide comprehensive regulatory compliance advice to the firm and portfolio companies.

    • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance programs, policies, and guidelines.

    • Lead the development and implementation of HR processes for both internal and portfolio companies.

  • Investment Sourcing & Analysis:

    • Source and analyze potential early-stage investment opportunities.

    • Support portfolio companies with scaling across Asia and beyond.

  • Communication:

    • Review and prepare internal and external communications, including pitch decks, reports, and newsletters.

    • Manage investment follow-up.

Requirements:

  • A hands-on, problem-solving generalist with a strong desire to learn and grow.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in venture capital, consulting, or startups is preferred.

  • Proven ability to apply financial and accounting principles, including financial modeling and due diligence, to the assessment of early-stage startups.

  • Disciplined and organized, with the ability to effectively manage relationships with senior stakeholders.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial concepts clearly and effectively.

  • Deep interest in technology entrepreneurship, particularly in AI, sustainability, healthcare, and fintech.

  • Passion for innovation, startups, and cross-border investments.

  • Korean or Japanese language skills are a plus.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a dynamic and fast-paced investment team.
